The team spent 3 days in Villa Hortencia II. Each member of the team, at one time or another, was involved in: construction, Vacation Bible School, and home visits.

During the time spent in the village, the team helped construct a classroom for the children. Overcrowding of the school was a concern for the leaders. Blocks were carried to the workers and cement was mixed by hand.

During the afternoons, the team helped FH Guatemala staff provide a VBS program for the chlidren. The number of children atending the program grew substantially each day over the next 3 days. The children were taught about how God created the earth. The children enjoyed colouring and making crafts pertaining to God's mighty power.

Home visits were arranged by Domingo. During a home visit, an ACC sponsored child would be presented with a gift consisting of clothing and school supplies. The group prayed for each child and the child's family before continuing on to the next home. We were able to visit 4 or 5 homes.

What did we learn?

Relationship with Team

We learned to trust in each other and offer a hand when help was needed.

Relationship with FH Canada

FH Canada facilitated the visit between the ACC team and Villa Hortencia II.

Relationship with Villa Hortencia II

The leaders of Villa Hortencia II are eager to learn how to provide for the needs of their community. They want to provide better schools and health care. They are also trying to find ways for families to make a living without having to leave the community to find work in other parts of the country.
